With a weight loss of 100 pounds, Chrissy Metz is unrecognizable

Declaring her personal goal: “I want to age the best way that I can, and I want to be strong,” Chrissy Metz boldly displayed her 100-pound weight loss in a bright and cheery frock.

Wearing a ruffle-trimmed dress that screamed spring, the 44-year-old This Is Us star took front stage at Variety’s Power of Women event in Nashville on May 1. The dress, with its vivid pink, blue, and yellow hues, hit just below her knee and had three-quarter sleeves and a nice ruffled V-neckline. Her outfit consisted in white cowboy boots and a striking pearl and silver chain necklace.

Her evening beauty presentation was similarly stunning. Metz wore her brown hair in lovely, beachy waves and chose a brilliant, pink makeup look with fluttery lashes.

Shortly later Metz told Daily Mail she had dropped 100 pounds from commitment, strength training, and a long-term health consciousness. “I’ve always enjoyed strength training and lifting weights—I don’t want to run unless I’m being chased,” she said, teasingly outlining how consistent sessions with a personal trainer helped her along the road.

For Metz, though, the trip involves more than just reaching a specific scale number. Her metamorphosis relates to something more fundamental. “I want to be strong and age the best I could possibly do. That is truly the aim behind all of it,” she said. Everyone has to make a personal decision here.

In the same interview, Chrissy Metz spoke candidly about the current debate about Ozempic, the prescription drug used by celebrities trying to shed weight. Metz underlined the need of more compassion in the conversation even though she refrained from confirming or rejecting using the substance herself.

“It’s something I feel like, it is so personal and I think it’s important to destigmatize anything,” she said. “But I also believe that individuals choose what they want to do for their bodies based on personal inclination. At the end of the day, I believe we all basically want to feel good about ourselves.”

Metz has always been quite forward about her body and the difficulties she has faced. She told Glamour in 2018 that she required years to get confident enough to flaunt a bikini in public. “I grew up at the pool sporting a T-shirt,” she remarked. “As an adult, I was like, “I’m going to find a bathing suit I like and I’m going to wear it.'” She posted an Instagram photo and wore a black Lane Bryant swimsuit while visiting Barbados, therefore honoring her pledge.

The post generated conflicting comments; some were empowering and others, less so. “People like, “Oh my God, look at you! You know I could never do that.'” she said. “I’m doing what I want to do; it’s a backhanded compliment.”

Along with her path of recovery, Metz has undergone some major life adjustments. She said in an April interview with PEOPLE that she had relocated from Los Angeles to Nashville, and it seems the relocation was precisely what she needed. “I spent 21 years in Los Angeles, but my family lives in Florida, where I am from; during the epidemic, I could drive to them from here. Simply said, this area offers greater quality of living. Everything is fifteen minutes away, and it’s simply so much less stress,” she remarked.

She is also appreciating the more laid-back southern attitude. “There is plenty going on,” Metz remarked. “There is clearly excellent cuisine and music. I’m accustomed to sort of that hospitality since I grew up in the South; it feels more communal here. It was always like in L.A., “Oh, you have an audition? For what use is it? Oh, you have an audition? And what for?” All of it was rather dog-eat-dog.
