One admirer said, “This disease is really difficult; I have never gone through suffering this kind before. It’s quite humble. Those who have not experienced it cannot really understand how horrible it can be.

“He should think about stopping,” another supporter said. His success lets him afford to pick tasks with lots of recovery time between them.

Third commenter sympathetically said, “Poor guy.” Right now, I am experiencing something like this and find it difficult. It is really beyond terrible, I can tell you!

Hardy has openly shared his medical story on other occasions as well. Having sought therapy at the age of 25 in 2003, the actor has proudly maintained his sobriety for almost twenty years.

He revealed in a 2015 Essentials interview about his struggle with addiction that it had gotten to such a critical point that he would have sacrificed everyone, even his family, to quell his drug needs. “I would have sold my mother for a rock of crack,” he said. Dealing with his drug problems, he said, “I was just another ugly statistic from suburbia. I was cautioned, “Tom, there is no turning back if you follow that road. The bottom line is that.

Hardy is a sought-after actor; after ending his run on “The Last Dance” in December, he moved fluidly into filming “MobLand,” which seems to be affecting his health. He said in a recent talk with “Esquire,” “I felt dizzy today, took a Sudafed, and it’s starting to help, but during the interviews, I was sitting there thinking, you know when something feels odd but you can’t just say it? Just so you know, if I faint…

He went into more detail on his present health difficulties: “I have sciatica also, my back has a bulging disc, and I have two knee surgeries. Oh also; I believe I have plantar fasciitis. Where and why did that originate? And I have strained a hip tendon as well.

The Cleveland Clinic characterizes sciatica as either irritation, inflammation, or compression affecting the nerves going from your lower back to your legs. The Mayo Clinic says plantar fasciitis causes inflammation and pain in the thick tissue along the sole of the foot and spreads from the heel to the toe.

Hardy said at closing, “It feels like everything is breaking down, and it’s not going to improve.”
