A scary mystery is happening in western Tennessee. A 7-month-old baby girl was found safe but alone in a stranger’s yard.

Just a few hours later, police found the baby’s whole immediate family slain 40 miles away.

The New York Post says that the youngster, whose identity has not been made public, was left in a car seat in the front yard of a random residence in the Tigrett area of Dyer County at 3:10 PM on July 29.

Officials said that the baby was left by someone in either a dark-colored minivan or a white midsize SUV.  A few hours later, police found something horrible in Lake County, which is next door.

Four family members were found deceased on a country road

According to the Bellingham Record, deputies found four bodies along Carrington Road near Tiptonville: the baby’s mother, Adrianna Williams, 20; the baby’s father, Matthew Wilson, 21; the baby’s maternal grandmother, Cortney Rose, 38; and the baby’s uncle, Braydon Williams, 15.

Authorities haven’t said what caused the de@th yet, but Dyer County District Attorney Danny Goodman said the scene was more than just a normal m*rder.

Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box said in a statement that this is a very sad day for our community.  We are dedicated to finding the truth and making sure that justice is done.

Baby found safe, but there are still questions

The woman who found the kid told WREG that she was too shaken to talk on camera, but she did say that the baby was dropped off without warning and left alone in her yard.  The baby was looked at by doctors and nurses, who said he or she didn’t seem to be hurt.

Authorities are still trying to figure out how and why that specific residence, which was in a remote area, was picked as the drop-off place.

The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office tried to reach the child’s parents and grandmother after they found out who he or she was.

Just a few hours later, their efforts led to the discovery of their bodies in Lake County, which is in the country.

We’re just glad the baby is okay

Amy Anderson, a family friend, told WREG that the victims were very decent folks who cared a lot about the little girl.

Anderson added that Adrianna was the sweetest girl and enjoyed being a mom. Matthew was a great parent. He cared about the infant. Cortney enjoyed the youngsters, too.

“They’re heartbroken,” she said. Thank goodness the baby was safe. It’s sad. It’s breaking everyone up.

Anderson also told people not to guess: “There have been rumors here and there, but I just wish everyone would slow down on the rumors and wait until things are actually put out there… so that there isn’t any more heartache than there already is.”

The investigation is getting bigger with help from the FBI

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is looking into a m*rder and has asked the FBI to help them find and identify any suspects. As of July 31, no one has been arrested.

DA Goodman remarked, “We knew we were dealing with something more than a typical m*rder.” I knew we would need TBI’s help.

“There is always concern when there is a suspect or suspects out on [the loose], that we have not yet caught,” stated Kim Wheeler-Elder, a TBI spokesman. Therefore, kindly inform us if you know anything.

Authorities think the m*rders are probably an isolated event and not a random attack on the public.

Lake County is just north of Dyer County and is roughly two hours north of Memphis. It is also close to the Kentucky border. The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office is still looking at evidence and is urging anyone who knows anything to call them at 731-285-2802.
