People are horrified to learn that they’ve been drinking water wrong their whole lives.
For a lot of us, drinking water is the most natural and easy thing to do every day.
It’s just water, so open your mouth and drink it, right? Not exactly.
As more people understand how to stay hydrated, they are realizing that they may have been drinking water improperly their whole lives.

The Economic Times says that water makes up around 75% of the human body and is important for all bodily functions, from moving nutrients around to keeping the body at the right temperature and helping with digestion.
World Water Day, which the United Nations General Assembly set for March 22, is all about how important water is to the world.
The 25th World Water Day’s theme was “Nature for Water,” which drew emphasis to long-term fixes for water problems.

In the larger discussions about protecting the environment and making sure everyone has access to clean water, there have also been some minor but important observations regarding how much water people use.
Diet coach Vriti Srivastav gave a lot of recommendations that have since gone viral and surprised a lot of people.

People are suddenly recognizing that they have been drinking water at the wrong times or thinking they are hungry when they are actually thirsty.
One bit of advise that might surprise you? “Take your time and use a glass.”
Instead of gulping down water, sip it slowly so that alkaline saliva can mingle with it and get into your stomach.
This helps get rid of too much stomach acid. When you drink straight from a bottle and swallow too quickly, the water goes down your throat too fast for saliva to help in digestion.

Srivastav also says that drinking a lot of water during meals is bad since it can dilute digestive juices and make digestion less effective.
A lot of people also mix up hunger and thirst, which makes them nibble when they don’t need to. Keeping yourself hydrated all day can help you avoid this mix-up.
The temperature is also important.

Srivastav says that room temperature water is better than ice water because it won’t shock the senses.
She suggests drinking warm water first thing in the morning to get your metabolism going. This will gently get your gut muscles ready for action.
What you should take away is It’s important to drink water, but how you do it is really important. So the next time you grab for that bottle, take your time, sip calmly, and let your body really benefit.
