People are only beginning to realize they might have been wearing bras wrong all their life. A stylist on TikTok started this awakening by offering some basic bra-fitting advice meant to greatly improve comfort and support.

Former luxury lingerie firm employee Kenzie said in a viral video that “80% of you viewing this video are wearing the wrong bra size.” Many internet users have connected with her observations, which has led to a lot of thanks from viewers. One customer said, “This is really useful! Excellent video; thanks”.

Often times, finding a bra that fits might be difficult. Many people describe underwires that bite into their skin as well as problems including gaping cups or extreme tightness.

But Kenzie says these issues usually show bad design rather than improper sizing. Her main advice emphasizes the band since she believes it is the most important component to have a good fit. “You shouldn’t be able to pull it out more than two inches; the band should sit evenly around the small of your back,” she says.

Given the fabric is likely to stretch with use over time, she advises consumers buying a new bra start by fastening it on the loosest hook. Kenzie’s second point tackles the sometimes disregarded relationship between band size and cup size, which can greatly influence general comfort and fit.

She said: “Your band size determines your cup size as well. You should so adjust your cup size depending on each band size drop.

She advises that a cup size is probably too small if breasts are bursting from the cup or if the underwire is pinching. Conversely, should there be obvious gaps or if the bra is drooping, the cup may be overly big.

She also busts a popular misconception by saying that rather than the straps, the structure of the cups and the band provides most of the support for a bra. Therefore, the required support depends on a well-fitting band and correctly designed cups, which lets the straps play a more secondary role in general lift and comfort. Knowing this will enable people to select the correct size and style for their requirements, therefore producing a more comfortable and supporting fit.

She underlined in her last advice the need of choosing the right bra shape. “With over 25 unique bra styles available,” she said, “most stores only carry a limited selection.” Many people find that this restriction forces them to choose a basic T-shirt bra even if a different form, such as a balconette or plunge, would be a significantly better fit for their particular breast shape and location.

Apart from improving comfort all day, the choice of the appropriate style greatly affects look, that is, it offers a more aesthetically pleasing silhouette when worn under clothes. Knowing your body’s needs and looking at the several choices you have at hand will help you to find more gratification from wearing lingerie. This will make one more confident and generally well-off.
