During this week Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene engaged in a heated exchange with British reporter Martha Kelner at the U.S. Capitol.
The clash followed a congressional subcommittee hearing titled “Anti-American Airwaves: Holding the heads of NPR and PBS Accountable,” aimed at scrutinizing alleged political bias in U.S. public broadcasting.
During the hearing, Greene, a Republican representative from Georgia’s 14th congressional district, made sweeping claims that NPR and PBS had devolved into “radical leftwing echo chambers.”
She accused NPR of advancing a “communist agenda,” framing the outlets as enemies of conservative values.

After his testimony Greene walked out of the Capitol Visitor Center to address journalists who had assembled to cover the event. Martha Kelner from Sky News interrupted the discussion at that moment.
Kelner asked Greene if she had seen the explosive Atlantic articles, “The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans” and “Here Are the Attack Plans That Trump’s Advisers Shared on Signal.”
Documents indicate that Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth and colleagues exchanged classified military documents with journalist Jeffrey Goldberg by mistake through Signal.
Greene reacted with a strong interruption to end the question. She reacted forcefully against comparing NPR and PBS with The Atlantic.

After dismissing the topic as irrelevant the journalist hit the media and sped past the question period. Kelner kept pressing the topic to assess the safety risks when classified attack details were leaked on an unprotected chat room.
Instead of answering Kelner Greene chose to address another reporter. Kelner chose to respond to the invitation for questions a second time which provoked her response.
At this point Greene changed her attitude towards the reporter.
“Wait, what country are you from?” Greene interrupted.

After Kelner revealed that she was British Greene exploded into verbal assault. Our thoughts about your journalistic work do not concern us at all.
What makes you insist on staying in a place facing severe immigration challenges? Return to your home country. Your attention must stay with your own national boundaries she mentioned.
Kelner tried to return the discussion to US safety by mentioning military documents posted on the Signal platform. Instead of changing her attitude Greene became more committed to her position.
Your focus should be on helping people from your home country. She wants to know about the abuse migrant men inflict on women. Greene fired back. She rejects the information you show her.

After the American journalist declared his nationality he asked to understand Kelner’s original inquiry. But Greene remained unmoved.
“I’m not answering her question because I don’t care about her network,” Greene said, shifting blame to the Biden administration, claiming it “ripped open” U.S. borders and allowed “terrorists and cartel members” to enter.
She stays thankful to President Trump since her election. He’s leading us out of wars. Under Trump’s leadership America has brought Ukraine’s conflict to a close while Biden’s presidency would have exposed Americans to combat death.
When prompted about Defense Secretary Hegseth and the Signal leak matter Greene ended her briefing stand.

At that moment she publicly refused any obligation to answer for her actions.
“Absolutely not,” Greene said. “He’s doing a great job.”
Video proof of this exchange went public and led to strong anger about Greene’s prejudice against immigrants plus her disrespectful approach to foreign journalists.
Despite calls for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s resignation—most notably from Democratic House Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who called him “the most unqualified Secretary of Defense in American history”—Greene remains staunch in her support.
Jeffries added, “His continued presence in the top position of leadership at the Pentagon threatens the nation’s security and puts our brave men and women in uniform throughout the world in danger.
His acts against American forces shocked everyone and broke multiple regulations and laws. The government must dismiss Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth from his role right now.
But Donald Trump, now in his second term as U.S. President, backed Hegseth, stating the leak contained “no classified information” and calling National Security Adviser Mike Waltz “a good man” who had “learned a lesson.”
The regular news meeting following a congressional hearing became an international sensation because Greene spoke violently and fiercely on national matters.
