The huge reward for the guy who is thought to have k!lled conservative activist Charlie Kirk could go to one of his own family members.
Online videos depicting the @ssassination of Kirk, 31, in front of students at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University (UVU) on Wednesday, September 10, are disturbing.
His security team rushed the right-wing influencer to the hospital, but President Donald Trump quickly proclaimed that his friend had d!ed.
Police quickly started a 33-hour search for the culprit, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who was caught on Friday, September 12.
Trump said in an appearance on Fox & Friends that someone “very close” to Robinson had “turned him in” to the police. He also said, “I think the father drove him to the police station.”
At first, the FBI offered a $100,000 reward for information that would help them catch the perpetrator.
That number swiftly went up when Trump aide Alex Bruesewitz promised an extra $25,000, conservative activist Robby Starbuck doubled the amount, and billionaire Bill Ackman boosted the stakes by $1 million. The total incentive grew to $1,150,000, which was eventually reported as $1.2 million.
There were a lot of worries about whether Robinson’s family could get the money, so Ackman talked about it directly on X: A lot of people have contacted me or posted about their worries that Tyler Robinson’s father could get a $1.2 million reward for turning in his son. This makes me think of a few things.
First, for rewards to work in catching criminals, they need to be given out even if the person who gets them is a criminal or worse. That being said, if Tyler’s father is shown to have been involved in or acted carelessly in a way that led to Charlie’s de@th, civil lawsuit or criminal prosecution will take away any unfair recompense.
Ackman said that reports said Robinson’s family planned to give up any claim to the money. Yes, we will pay the prize to whoever the FBI says gave them the information that resulted to Tyler’s arrest. I always do what I say.
However, a police report says that Robinson’s father may not have been the one who told the police about the suspected g*nman.
Investigators say that on the night of September 11, 2025, a family member of Tyler Robinson called a family acquaintance, who then called the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to say that Robinson had confessed to them or hinted that he had done the crime.
The Utah County Sheriff’s Office and scene investigators at UVU [Utah Valley University] were told about this. They also told the FBI same information, they said.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox, on the other hand, said that Robinson is “not cooperating,” but he did say that “all the people around him” are giving information.
He also said that family and friends told him that Robinson was very deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideas. He added, “There’s so much more that we’re learning and so much more that we will learn… official charges will be filed on Tuesday, and there will be much more evidence and information available then.”
Investigators are also looking into upsetting Discord communications that Robinson is said to have sent to pals following the shooting.
In one group conversation, others sent him a skull emoji to make fun of him, saying he looked like the suspect. According to The New York Times, Robinson quipped that it was his “doppelganger” trying to “get me in trouble.”
One person said, “Tyler k!lled Charlie!!!” while another said to turn him in for the FBI prize. Robinson is said to have said, “Only if I get a cut.”
He then said that he should also get rid of this manifesto and exact copy gun that I have laying around. After that, he said that the shooter was “CLEARLY” from California.
Discord has said that the hack was not planned on its platform.
In a video statement, President Trump talked about the de@th of his comrade and said he was “filled with grief and anger.”
Charlie inspired millions of people, and now everyone who knew and loved him is shocked and horrified, he said. Charlie was a patriot who spent his whole life fighting for the United States of America and for open debate. He battled for freedom, democracy, fairness, and the people of the United States. He is a martyr for truth and freedom, and young people have never respected anyone as much as they do him.
Trump also said that Kirk loved his wife Erika and their two kids more than anything else in the world. He also warned that condemning people you don’t agree with every day might lead to political bloodshed.
During a Turning Point USA broadcast, Kirk’s widow also talked about how sad she was and promised to continue her husband’s work.
Kirk enjoyed his life. He adored the United States. He loved nature, which always brought him closer to God. She said that he adored the Chicago Cubs and, oh my gosh, he loved the Oregon Ducks. Charlie loved his kids more than anything else, and I knew that every day.
