Recently, Haribo fans were surprised to learn that a famous Tangsfastic candy—which many had long assumed resembled a key—is actually somewhat different. This shocking discovery has sparked debates among committed fans who are now reevaluating their impressions of these classic treats.

The chat started when a Reddit member tried to settle a fun but continuous argument with his wife. He commented, “We recently discovered that my wife and I call this particular Haribo candy by different names after five years of marriage. What do you suppose it resembles?

This apparently straightforward query set the stage for several points of view. Although several users insisted the candy resembled a key, others said it looked more like a pacifier, and one commentator even said it looked like a “looking glass.”

One user came clean, “I used to think they were keys.” “I always believed they were a fizzy version of the “ring” Haribos,” another said.

Haribo intervened to straighten things up when opinions were divided. The manufacturer claims that the candies in issue are formally meant to resemble a pacifier, not a key.

Reactions to this explanation varied. While some admirers stayed dubious, others embraced it without question. One reader said, “To me, it’s always been a key, but I guess they’re called dummies. Simply said, they don’t seem to me like dummies. Saying, “Sure, it’s a dummy, but I still call it the key,” another person expressed a similar view. Another observation was still made: “It’s right there on the packaging: dummies!”

Haribo has perplexed its consumers before as well. Another uproar recently surfaced when consumers discovered, as many had long thought, that the green gummy bear in Haribo’s famous mix is actually strawberry-flavored rather than lime or apple.

One Twitter user commented sarcastically, “Should I call the police about whether those green gummy bears are strawberry or apple?” Another person voiced his incredulity: “I was sure they tasted apple-flavored. At this point, I am unsure of what I believe!

Amazingly, even if many snackers ignore the taste information posted conspicuously on the back of Haribo packaging and on their website, these shocks nevertheless surprise people. Haribo keeps its consumers on their toes and guessing about their preferred snacks, whether it’s incorrect shapes or unusual tastes.
