Phil Collins, a musician, has given a grim health update after saying he is “very sick.”
After the last Genesis concert in 2022, the band’s lead singer talked about his condition.
He has mostly been out of the public eye in the past few years, since he said in 2022 that his health was getting worse.
The musician can’t play the drums anymore since he has a displaced vertebra and nerve damage that makes him need a cane.
But the Grammy-winning artist’s son played the drums for him at some of his last shows because he couldn’t play his favorite instrument.
The star’s ex-wife, Orianne Cevey, is the mother of his son Nic.
Fans were heartbroken when rumors spread that Collins’ health was getting worse. Many said that the drummer was in a hospice.
Instead, he is in the hospital right now getting therapy for his knee.
But in his 2024 documentary, the singer talked about how his health problems made him lose his passion for making music.
He said, “I’ve played drums my whole life.” It’s a shock to suddenly not be able to do that.
I would rather do nothing than do what I did as well as I did it. I’ll try it if I can hold a pair of drumsticks when I wake up one day.
But I just feel like I’ve run out of air miles.
He joked with the audience during his last show, saying, “After tonight, we all need to get real jobs.”
Collins talked more about his health in 2022, just before his documentary came out last year.
The artist added, “I keep thinking I should go down to the studio and see what happens.”
But I don’t want it anymore. The issue is, I’ve been really unwell.
The Grammy for Album of the Year went to his 1985 album “No Jacket Required.”
He said, “It’s still kind of sinking in a bit.”
The star also has acute pancreatitis, which is when the pancreas gets inflamed and bloated.
Collins additionally suffers from ‘foot drop,’ which sees him now wearing orthopedic shoes.
The 74-year-old has five kids, one of whom is Lily Collins, who stars in Emily In Paris.
People who like the singer have sent their best wishes on social media.
One person said, “His health has been getting worse for a while now.” This isn’t really a surprise.
He hasn’t been able to play the drums since around 2010. He’s had a lot of surgery on his back and neck, so he needs a cane to walk. Like Ozzy, he has to sit in a chair while he performs.
Another person said, “I LOVE Phil Collins.” This might be my fave of all time. It’s been sad to watch him go down.
