A Maryland man had a shocking and embarrassing experience during his usual drive-thru visit to Chick-fil-A.
As a regular Chick-fil-A customer Marquise Vanzego visited the store on August 23 to enjoy his meal.
On August 23rd 2024 Vanzego entered the Chick-fil-A drive-thru lane to order in Maryland.
He requested his meal order to the employee by placing it at the window where the young man made chicken strips and fries with an Arnold Palmer.

The driver stayed put in his car while waiting for his turn without being aware that a strange encounter would soon appear.
While he sat waiting an employee cried out someone’s name but it was not his own name.
He thought there was no way his order would be linked until the clerk mentioned his white van which confirmed this fact.
His emotions dropped like he had split with his partner just by looking at the receipt and bag.

“You know when you break up with somebody, and you feel that sting in your chest?” Vanzego told Today. “That’s what I felt.”
He right away asked to meet the on-duty manager in order to understand this surprising situation.
The manager’s refund helped nothing when Vanzego experienced more than just lost money in this incident.
After this event he reached out to his social media audience by posting videos on Facebook and Instagram plus writing a letter to the Chick-fil-A headquarters.

People from all across America reacted to this news online through both positive and negative speculations about why the label happened.
Vanzego rejected the idea that a drive-thru intercom caused the problem during his social media presentations.
He made clear to everyone that his order was placed directly to an employee instead of through an intercom system.
During his franchise owner meeting Vanzego learned a 17-year-old worker made the labeling mistake.

The owner reportedly stated that the teenager “wrote what he thought he heard,” and while he apologized again, he confirmed the employee would not be fired.
In his interview with Newsweek Vanzego admitted that the employee needed further professional development. The employee must face some form of discipline despite their age and learning process. My children learned to handle the results of their wrongdoings.
The company headquarters publicly responded to the situation as the management of standalone properties remains separate from corporate control.
“This Chick-fil-A is independently franchised and operated,” the company said. The restaurant franchise owner has presented their apology to the customer. Our company believes this procedure does not match its standards and falls short of our standards.

What words caused Vanzego such distress when he received his receipt?
One word: “Monkeys.”
The word that upset Vanzego had far more historical pain than the food items he purchased that day.
