Netflix has a history of putting out episodes that are worth viewing, from the critically acclaimed thriller “Dept. Q.” to the true crime series “Cold Case: The Tylenol Murders.” The newest series is no different.
People who watched the U.S. show that debuted on the streaming service last week said it was “intense, interesting, exciting, and frantic,” and most of them wanted a sequel.

“Halfway through, all I can say is that Netflix better be making season 2!” A user wrote on X before Twitter.
Some people called the show “awesome” and gave it a “10/10” rating.
Kevin Williamson, who also made the teen comedy Dawson’s Creek, made the show. Mindhunter’s Holt McCallany and Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist feature in the series.
The Buckleys are an imagined fishing family from North Carolina who wade into perilous waters to keep their failing business empire on the right track.

The show, which stars Maria Bello, Jake Weary, and Danielle Campbell, is so interesting that many are viewing all eight episodes at once.

Another post said, “I’m currently watching and obsessed!”
Someone else remarked, “Graphic, horrible, but very relatable to family.” I loved it.
And a fourth person said, “Great series, I watched it all at once.”
People also went to X to compliment the “amazing and beautiful cast” of the play.

The Guardian’s TV critic Lucy Mangan called the series “escapist summer nonsense” and said, “God, I hope!” while others in the industry aren’t so convinced. I hope there’s no pretending to be someone else.
There are already hints that people will keep talking about the show.
What’s On Netflix says that The Waterfront has made it into the top 10 lists in more than 90 countries. It has been ranked number one in almost 40 countries, including the U.S.
Deadline says that in the first few weeks it was on the site, it got 8.3 million views.
