Ben Affleck gives us an unusual close look at his personal life by discussing his challenging previous romantic connections.
In his interview with GQ Ben Affleck took a measured approach to share life experiences without dramatics and chose to reveal his inner thoughts respectfully.
After his role in The Accountant sequel the actor clarified what really caused his recent divorce in public media.
He explains that contrary to sensational headlines a typical human experience leads to his divorce from Jennifer Lopez.
Affleck stated to the interviewer “People won’t find any sensational secrets in our case.” These people only want to understand themselves and their relations like everyone else.
He stated that discussing the topic made him uncomfortable because he found it embarrassing. It feels vulnerable.”
Although the media has tracked his life continuously Affleck keeps trying to shield his children from media interference.
After their 2018 divorce Affleck and Garner work together as supportive parents to their three children Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel.
“We used to have a thing, my ex-wife and I, when they would see something [on a magazine] on a supermarket stand, we would say, ‘You know this isn’t always true because if it were, you would have 15 brothers or sisters,’” Affleck explained.
The public has regularly seen Affleck and Garner together guiding their children at family events and birthday parties.
Everyone admires their dedication to raising their children together as this direction pleases their followers and receives positive media feedback.
Affleck called Garner a “really good co-parent and partner,” emphasizing how well they work together to create a stable environment for their kids.
Family life following their divorce is just an ordinary hassle according to him.
He understands what media tracks in his personal life. Keeping my family updates has higher value than media reports.
He added that much of what the public consumes about him is distorted or exaggerated, noting, “For all the sensational stuff that gets written, if somebody sat down and talked to me about it… their eyes would glaze over with boredom.”
In the face of all this, Affleck insisted that his life is actually “pretty drama-free,” despite what the tabloids might suggest.

At the end of his exclusive interview Affleck made public the news that Jennifer Lopez and he were divorced.
The couple who reconnected in 2000s got married in 2022 before ending their marriage in February 2025 just ahead of their interview release.
Despite public expectations for dramatic revelations Affleck shows in his words that he prefers a quiet mindset even as media scrutiny surrounds him.
