Barack Obama has made a brutally honest confession about his wife Michelle amid rumors they are headed for divorce.
Speaking to Hamilton College on April 3, the 63-year-old admitted that he was working to fix his relationship with Michelle after being โin a deep deficitโ.
While speaking to the College president Steven Tepper, he shared: โBeyond that, look, I was in a deep deficit with my wife,โ, โSo I have been trying to dig myself out of that hole by doing occasionally fun things.โ

He acknowledged the toll being president between 2009-2017 had taken on his 32-year long marriage.
He added that he hadnโt fully understood the impact his career would take on his wife and their relationship with their children.
This is not the first time the former president has spoken out about his personal life. Back in 2023, in an interview with CBS Mornings, he admitted: โLet me just say this: It sure helps to be out of the White House and to have a little more time with her,โ.
In 2022, Michelle admitted that there was a period of โ10 yearsโ where she โcouldnโt standโ her husband; โAnd for 10 years, while weโre trying to build our careers and, you know, worrying about school and whoโs doing what, I was like, โUgh, this isnโt even,โโ she said. โAnd guess what? Marriage isnโt 50/50 โ ever. Thereโs sometimes Iโm 70, heโs 30, but guess what? Weโve been married 30. I would take 10 bad years over 30.โ
She had encouraged people to be realistic when it comes to the commitment of marriage: โMarriage is hard, and a lot of young people quit on marriage over things that are just a part of the commitment,โ, โI mean, you could be mad at him, but do you still look at him and go: โIโm not happy with you, but I respect you. I donโt agree with you, but youโre still a kind, smart person.โโ
Despite all this, they appear to be stronger than ever. This Valentineโs Day, Barack shared a photo of Michelle to social media and wrote: โThirty-two years together and you still take my breath away.โ
