Conner Smith, a country musician, has been charged with a misdemeanor in connection with an acc!dent that happened at the intersection of I-65 and Nashville and k!lled a woman who was crossing the roadway.
Officials chose not to look into the possibility of felony charges.

TMZ has confirmed that Smith’s lawyer, Worrick G. Robinson IV, and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department sent his client a misdemeanor ticket.
Robinson said in an email that Conner is very thankful to the MNPD for taking the time to look into this terrible situation and has always been willing to help.

This month, Smith was driving a Chevrolet Silverado when he hit Dorothy Dobbins when she was crossing the street on a legal crosswalk. Dobbins was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center by ambulance, but he later d!ed from his injuries.
According to Yahoo News, Smith was charged with a driving violation that led to de@th and is a misdemeanor. The charges show that there was no criminal intent at the time of the event.

People who knew Smith from the start have characterized the event in a way that was sad, saying that he was neither inebriated nor distracted at the time. Police have determined that he wasn’t drunk or using his phone when the incident happened.
After this event, Nashville officials have started making the crossing safer. The Daily Mail says that a lot of safety signs have been placed to help people find the crossing, and a tree that used to impede vehicles’ view has been cut down.

We hear that Smith supports these safety improvements because he hopes they will help keep incidents from happening in the future. Smith is especially happy with the work of residents and community members who came together to recognize Ms. Dobbins. People say that Smith is very thankful for the work that was done to keep more traged!es from happening on the property.

According to PEOPLE, his lawyer claimed that his thoughts are still with Ms. Dobbins’ family and that he is still devoted to honoring her legacy by supporting efforts to make walking safer.
Smith is well-known for his smash song “I Hate Alabama,” which is on Big Machine Records.
