After coming out as non-binary back in 2023, Bella Ramsey opened up about the challenges she faced
Bella Ramsey has opened up about coming out as non-binary, admitting some regrets.
As a 19-year-old Brit, she announced that she was genderfluid back in January 2023 as part of the promotion for the upcoming game The Last of Us, and at that point, she found out just how toxic the internet can be.

Two years later, the 21-year-old has touched on a topic about which they never intended to become headline news, just as HBO has finally begun airing season two of The Last of Us, which will air on Sundays at 9 pm ET at the end of this month.
Ramsey was asked in an interview with The Guardian to sum up how they feel about coming out as non-binary the way they did in the manner they did.
“Part of me looks back on it and wishes that I hadn’t, because I didn’t want it to become a headline and a big deal. That’s why I didn’t want it to be a headline,” they say.

” Of course, it was going to happen, and I did not understand that at the time, and I was not prepared for what would happen. However, some people have expressed to me that seeing some representation has been very helpful for them.
“It’s been a mixed bag, but overall, I think it was a good thing for me to be able to live more freely, without feeling like I’m keeping a secret.”
According to Ramsey, his view on that matter has changed since they’ve spoken about how they’re over talking about their gender and s*xual orientation being their most talked-about subject and instead prefer to talk about other topics instead.
“But now that I think about it, I’m like, ‘I’ll talk about it, but I don’t want it to be the focus any longer.’ I guess I’m just quite chill with it right now. And I want everyone else around me to be the same, basically.”
The news comes following Ramsey’s decision to deactivate her Instagram account last week. She cited both Kit Harrington, who they worked with on Game of Thrones, and Jesse Eisenberg, who they worked with on Resistance, as reasons for her decision.

“In my opinion, those are the two actors I thought were the coolest people ever to walk the earth, and neither of them had a social networking account,” Ramsey stated in the article.
“I remember them as being so normal and funny and interesting and they were famous because of something they were great at instead of because they were celebrities. They never tried to push themselves out there and make themselves more famous.”

Also, they admitted that they only set up their Instagram account because a number of fake accounts pretending to be them were on the platform.
