A previously prohibited horror movie on Netflix is being hailed by viewers as the “best movie ever.”

Since its release on the streaming service, the satirical movie has gotten overwhelmingly positive reviews.

“Honestly, one of the best, well-thought-out, and written action movies I’ve ever seen,” exclaims one enthusiast.

“I wish there were more movies like this,” says another.

“For individuals who haven’t seen it yet… I strongly recommend seeing it RIGHT AWAY! Another person makes a comment.

With a plot that revolves around 12 people being chased by “globalist elites,” the movie has been seen as a scathing political critique that shows affluent liberals going after right-wingers.

Political outcry and the film’s proximity to devastating mass shootings in the US caused the release to be postponed despite its compelling idea.

The film, which was initially scheduled for release on September 27, 2019, came under heavy fire following the August 4 shootings in El Paso and Dayton.

These catastrophes, which happened within hours of one other and claimed over 30 lives, caused Universal Pictures to halt the movie’s marketing.

Following what the company called “thoughtful consideration,” the decision was made to remove the trailer and therefore postpone the release date.

However, after President Donald Trump’s remarks, the film’s criticism intensified even further.

Despite not specifically mentioning The Hunt, Trump criticized Hollywood for creating films that he said were meant to “inflame and cause chaos.”

The political conversation was further amplified by his comments and coverage on conservative outlets such as Fox News, which portrayed the movie as a liberal assault on conservatism.

The film was criticized for using the word “deplorables,” which Hillary Clinton famously used to characterize half of Trump’s voters during the 2016 presidential campaign.

This aspect sparked intense discussions about the film’s underlying theme because many people saw it as a story about liberals pursuing conservatives.

Its authors insisted that the narrative was meant to be satire rather than a sobering political statement, even if it was canceled.

The Hunt, starring Betty Gilpin, Emma Roberts, and Hilary Swank, was characterized as “fun, funny, and not super dark” by director Craig Zobel.

However, its initial publication date was unworkable due to the political division in the United States.

Leaning into the controversy with a new tagline, Universal announced the film’s re-release seven months later: The most talked-about movie nobody has ever seen.

Producer Jason Blum expressed hope that the discussions surrounding the film would attract more viewers once the release was pushed for March 2020.

Some decried the absurdity of outlawing a violent movie when gun availability was still largely uncontrolled, while others applauded the studio for being sensitive enough to postpone the original release.

In the end, The Hunt is a divisive cultural relic that captures the social and political conflicts in the US.

Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, YouTube, and the Sky Store all offer streaming services for The Hunt.
