Rachel Zegler, the star of Disney’s unsuccessful adaptation of Snow White, talked about how she feels in an honest and emotional interview that made people cry.

The actress has now talked about how the huge criticism affected her mental health after years of it. She has also talked about how much the movie’s controversy affected her.

In an interview with i-D magazine that came out on June 23, actress Zegler said that she was having a hard time dealing with the public’s criticism and the hate that came with her role as the lead in the live-action Snow White revival.

“That f**king psychiatrist has been there for me through it all,” she claimed.

She said that the therapist was a lifeline during one of the hardest times in her early career. Continuously telling her, “What you’re going through isn’t normal.”

Ziegler noted that this statement “did miracles for me in a variety of circumstances in my own life.”

It was so bad that she asked for help with medicine.

“I just wasn’t functioning,” she said, explaining why she decided to take anxiety pills.

She added in a statement, “I wanted to function in a way that made me feel confident in the way I was moving through the world.”

Even though she was declared one of the most renowned Disney princesses in 2022, her story isn’t truly a fairytale.

The actress became an inadvertent cause of controversy when she made racist comments and then deleted a post about Trump. She also made comments regarding her role in the 1937 Snow White movie, where she said Prince Charming really stalks Snow White.

Gal Gadot, who co-starred with Zegler, said they had a fight over political differences on the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

The movie’s last showing was in March 2025, but it didn’t do well at the box office, even though the marketing team was hopeful at first.  The critics didn’t like it, and the audience was very angry.

Ziegler, on the other hand, says she doesn’t want to be apathetic.

“I think being a victim is a choice, and I don’t choose it,” she said with a stern smile. “I don’t choose to be mean either because of it. I don’t like it when others say bad things about it.

“I choose light, happiness, and positivity,” she said. “And I do believe that happiness is a choice at times.”

While she is still visible as Eva Peron in London’s West End version of Evita, the performance has caused a lot of talk.

The singer’s choice to sing the show’s most renowned song from a balcony, which forced the paying audience to watch it live on the internet, has led to more criticism.
