New information has come to light regarding the trauma a 10-year-old girl went through before she was found unresponsive at an Arizona junction.
On July 27, authorities in Holbrook, Arizona, discovered Rebekah Baptiste unconscious at the intersection of two freeways.

Prosecutors say she was dehydrated, starving, and missing her toenails. Damon Hawkins, her uncle, told AZ Family that she was black and blue all throughout, with two black eyes.
Hawkins added that she had two black eyes and that they assume she d!ed from a hemorrhage.
Sadly, she d!ed three days later, on July 30.
Richard Baptiste, 32, and his girlfriend, Anicia Woods, 29, have been arrested and charged with first-degree m*rder and child abuse.

According to PEOPLE, prosecutors say Rebekah was @bused for a long time and was raped and beaten.
Court records show that she d!ed from a lot of bleeding in her brain that made her brain-de@d.
A new 911 call gives a terrible picture of Rebekah’s last moments. FOX 10 said that the lady who called, who has not been confirmed to be Woods, informed dispatchers that the girl had run away for the third time in a week.
The caller reported she ran away for the third time in a week in the desert, and when the neighbors found her in the wash, she was absolutely lifeless.
She said that Rebekah still hasn’t fully gotten over the first time she ran away.
But when the neighbor found her, she stated she was almost gasping, the woman said. She was barely breathing when she arrived home, so I’m breathing for her now. She is not responding, is unconscious, and can’t breathe on her own.
When asked if she knew how to give CPR, the woman said, “Yes, I do, unfortunately.”
As the connection ends, you can hear sirens coming.
Baptiste and Woods had been living with Rebekah at a lonely desert cabin. But her school, Empower College Prep, has been a problem for a long time.
The school called the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) 12 times between November 2023 and January 2025 to check on her well-being, ABC15 says.

DCS told People that there had been five calls in the past year, but they couldn’t look into the claims the other four times because they didn’t fulfill the legal requirements for @buse or neglect.
The agency is now working closely with the police on a joint investigation to make sure that the perpetrators who did this terrible thing are caught and punished.
Employees at Empower College Prep thought Rebekah was intelligent and motivated. She was a student who had earned many accolades.
Baptiste and Woods are still in jail and can’t get out on bail. We don’t currently have information about the lawyers representing the two, and court records don’t show any pleas.
