A prisoner who “d!ed” and then came back to life said that his life sentence was over.

Many stories about inmates have gone viral over the years, especially those about people on de@th row.

There is the prisoner who wrote a scary letter confessing to a terrible crime only days before his execution, and the m*rderer who used his last words to send a secret three-word message to his family.

Now there’s another story about a prisoner who is going to spend the rest of his life in prison. He said that since he had “d!ed” for a short time, it was done.

Benjamin Edward Schreiber was found guilty of m*rder.

He was convicted guilty of first-degree m*rder and will not be able to get out of jail early for k!lling John Terry in the mid-1990s with an axe handle.

According to CNN, Schreiber got big kidney stones and was hospitalized with septic poisoning in March 2015, years after he was sentenced.

He fell asleep in his cell in the Iowa State Penitentiary.

Medical professionals then took Schreiber to the hospital, where they had to restart his heart five times with an IV carrying “adrenaline/epinephrine.”

The Des Moines Register says that this happened even though there was a “do not resuscitate” order in place years before.

The lawsuit alleges that when Schreiber was first taken to the hospital, medics called his brother in Texas, who informed them, “If he is in pain, you may give him something to ease the pain, but otherwise you are to let him pass.”

Schreiber had to have surgery to fix the damage to his kidneys, and he also had medications to treat septic shock.

He got better in the end.

In April 2018, the prisoner asked for help after being found guilty.

Schreiber said that when his heart stopped, he had technically d!ed, thus his life sentence should be over.

A judge turned down Schreiber’s request to be released in 2019, calling his case “unpersuasive and without merit.”

Judge Amanda Potterfield said at the time: “Schreiber is either still alive, in which case he must stay in prison, or he is really de@d, in which case this appeal is pointless.”

Petitioner says in court papers that he “d!ed” on March 30, 2015, and because of his “de@th,” he has now fulfilled his life sentence and should be let out.

The court does not find this claim convincing or valid.  There is no evidence in the record to back up [the] petitioner’s claims.

The fact that the petitioner filed these procedures shows that they are still alive.

The district court did not look into Schreiber’s other argument that his due process rights were violated when the doctors did not obey his “do not resuscitate” order.

Because of this, the courts of appeal ruled they couldn’t deal with it in their decision either.

According to his online obituary, Schreiber d!ed in April 2023 in a hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa, “due to natural causes.”
