When Jada Pinkett Smith called Will Smith by his true name in a birthday post on social media, many were flabbergasted.
Jada and Will got married in 1997, and in the last few years, they’ve been in the news a lot.

In a surprising episode of Red Table Talk in 2020, the Girls Trip star admitted to having an affair with a famous person she didn’t expect.
She added at the time, “It all started with him needing help and me wanting to help his health and mental state.”
Our family was the first to show him love and support, and it was mostly about his health.
We discovered all those different services to help him get through it, and then you and I were going through a very hard time.
Just two years later, Will got a lot of hate after the 2022 Oscars.

Will slapped Chris Rock on the face when he made a joke about a hypothetical G.I. Jane sequel that had to do with Jada’s bald head.
When Will got back to his table, he exclaimed, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth!” and there was an awkward quiet.
More than a year later, Jada said that she and the King Richard star had lived “completely separate lives” since 2016 and act like a divorced spouse would.
I promised that there would never be a reason for us to split up. We shall get through… whatever. She said, “I just can’t break that promise.”

Even still, the two people who used to be together still love each other.
Jada wished Will a happy birthday on Instagram on September 25, 2023, the day he turned 55.
She called him by his true name, which surprised his fans.
In response to the article, one admirer said, “I learned today that Will Smith’s name isn’t short for William.”
Another person said, “Bruh, I never knew Will Smith’s real name.”
Why did I think that William was Will Smith’s entire name? asked a third person.
For the popular birthday post, Jada posted a picture of her, Will, and their two kids, Jaden and Willow, as well as Will’s son Trey from a previous relationship.

The caption said, “I’m so happy you were born on this day.” I would not have known the greatest delight of my life without you: the love of our family.
I am glad for the wells of laughter along the tracks of tears we’ve shared on this Divine mission we’ve decided to travel together.

Thanks for helping me learn to accept everything with a smile. Here’s to countless than 100 birthdays full of growth, acceptance, and happiness.
Jada uses Willard’s true name, Willard, at the start of the caption.
Willard Carroll Smith Jr. is the full name of the A-lister. He is named after his father.
