The results of a doctor injecting Botox into just one side of her face have left everyone speechless.
Dr. Bita Farrell, a board-certified doctor with more than 20 years of expertise (and more than 268,000 Instagram followers to back it up), decided to be her own “lab rat” for the sake of science and education.
She merely injected one side of her face instead of getting the normal full-face procedure to show people what botulinum toxin can achieve.

Yes. She put Botox on one side of her face and not the other, and she filmed the effects for the world to see.
Dr. Farrell injected Botox into the lower muscles on the right side of her face two weeks before she posted her now-famous video. These muscles include the DAO, which pulls down the corners of the mouth, and the platysma, which changes how the face looks and moves.
She informed her followers, “Now, two weeks later, I show you my results as I try to tighten the muscles in my lower face.”
The findings were crazy.

Her untreated left side looked far more alive on camera, with muscles that were clearly moving. Her right side, which had been injected with Botox, hardly moved at all.
She said, “You can see that the platysma muscle on this [left] side is really contracting and pulling my jawline down, and so is my DAO, pulling the corner of my mouth down.”
Then, referring to the side she injected, she said, “I’m really trying to pull this side!”
@drbitafarrell A little over a year ago, I posted a reel where I injected only half of my face with botulinum toxin. I did it to teach — to show how thoughtful muscle balance can shape a face naturally, and how facial expressions are deeply connected to anatomy, not just lines and wrinkles. Today, that reel has made international headlines. It’s been featured on New York Post, Yahoo news, AOL, UNILAD, MSN, DailyMail, News Break, LADbible, Indy100, Inquisitr, Yahoo News UK, and News9 Live, and more. While some reports mistakenly mentioned “filler” (this was only botulinum toxin — and any brand could be used), the heart of the message is what matters most to me: Education. Awareness. Responsibility. I never set out for attention. I simply wanted to help people see the artistry behind aesthetic medicine — that it’s not about freezing faces, but restoring balance, emotion, and beauty in a way that still feels like you. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to see this message now touching so many people around the world. Thank you to everyone who believes that medicine and education can coexist with beauty. #botox #botoxtraining #daobotox #nefertitinecklift #iinjectedhfmyfacewithbotox #drbitafarrell #naturalaestheticscenter

She also pointed out some small but important changes: This cheek sits a little higher, this nasal labial fold seems softer, and so does my shadow on this side of the marionette.
Dr. Farrell explained how it all works in the caption: The muscles of the face can either pull up or down.
When you inject and relax the muscles that pull the lower face down (platysma and DAO) with a Neuromodulator like Botox, the muscle that pulls the mid face up (zygomaticus or cheek muscle) takes over and pulls the face up!

This can help make marionette lines, jowls, frown (rbf, or sad face), and the nasolabial folds look less noticeable. It also raises the neck and can make the jawline sharper and the cheekbones look broader and higher.
She also said that the results usually last three to four months and can be gotten with any FDA-approved neuromodulator.
And yeah, don’t worry—she hasn’t been wandering around with a crooked face just for fun.
Now I need to give the opposite side an injection to make things fair. She made a joke.
People had a lot to say, of course.

Someone wrote, “This is so helpful, and you are great!”
Another person added, “Wow, a doctor is willing to show a test comparison on themselves?” I have a lot more regard for that now. Thanks, Doc!
A third person said, “The side that wasn’t injected looked a lot better!” When she said the other side, I was astonished. Thanks for the demo!
Another commenter said it best: This is a great example of what Botox can do. It really is incredible! Thanks for doing this. It’s really surprising how much of a difference it makes.
