As she battles stage four cancer, Magda Szubanski, who is most recognized for her role on Kath & Kim, shared a heartfelt update with her fans.
According to The Guardian, the 64-year-old comedian and actress, who is best known for playing Sharon Strzelecki, thanked a young admirer for lifting her spirits during chemotherapy in a heartfelt video she recorded from her hospital bed on Sunday night.

This is a special message for Annabella, who is 10 years old and lives in Adelaide. Thanks a lot for your thoughts about Sharon Strzelecki. “I’m in here getting chemo, and it really cheered me up,” Szubanski said in the Instagram video, smiling quietly.
That was extremely nice of you. I’m very touched. Thanks, my dear.

The actress then gave an update on her health, saying that chemotherapy has been hard on her. Chemo is really getting to me right now, but you made me feel better. She said, “Bless you, my dear.”

In May, Szubanski said that she had been diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive kind of blood cancer. She posted a picture of herself on social media with a shaved head and said that her treatment would follow the Nordic protocol, which is a difficult, multi-phase plan that uses numerous strong medications to decrease tumors, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
She remarked at the time that it was one of the worse ones. The best part is that I have amazing friends, family, and a great medical support team all around me. To be honest, we have the best here in Australia, especially in Melbourne. I am incredibly lucky.
Even though she knew how hard therapy would be, she was hopeful: new treatments are always coming out.

Family and friends are giving a lot of support.
Since posting her most recent update, Szubanski has received a flood of supportive messages from fans and other celebrities in the comments section of Instagram. Alex Nation from The Bachelor said, “Lots of love Magda,” while Gorgi Coghlan, the show’s host, said, “Sending so much love.” Nigella Lawson, a famous cook, wrote: Sending you all the love in the world, Magda darling.
As she continues her therapy, Szubanski has requested for space and told her followers that her immune system is weak. Please stay away from me because my immune system will be quite weak. So I can’t hug anymore. Don’t kiss me, embrace me, or breathe near me! She said with her usual humor, “Wave enthusiastically from a safe distance and know I love you madly.”

The actress also said that she found out she had cancer by chance during a routine breast screening. This was because her lymph nodes were acting strangely, which led to more tests. To be honest, I’ve been feeling fairly bad for a long time. I requested for more blood, and there it was, she said. The main point is: listen to your body and get tested!

Szubanski claims that for now, she is lying low while getting therapy, with the help of her closest friends. I won’t lie to you: it’s hard. But I have hope. She stated, “I’ve never felt more held by the people around me.”
