The fact that Halle Berry’s ex-husband revealed to the world why he “decided to leave” her has angered many.
The Oscar-winning actress shortly began dating former Major League Baseball player David Justice.
They got married in January 1993 after meeting in May 1992, and they split up three years later in February 1996. Their divorce became formal in June 1997.

Justice, who is 59 years old, recently talked about why they broke up on Matt Barnes’ podcast “All the Smoke.”

Looking back on their early days, the former athlete said that when the Catwoman star asked him to marry her after only five months of dating, he felt like he had to say yes.

He remarked, “She asked me to marry her after we had known each other for five months.”  I said “OK” since I didn’t have a choice. Who would say no at that point?

He went on, “I don’t know if my heart was really in it, but I didn’t want to say no and make her feel bad, you know? Or maybe I was just in the moment.”

Justice said that his conventional Midwestern upbringing molded what he expected from a wife and mother, which he thought Berry didn’t meet at the time.

I simply didn’t know a lot about relationships, he added. I’m from the Midwest, and I see my mom. “So, I thought a wife should cook, clean, and be traditional, you know?” he remarked.

Then I think, “Okay, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and start a family with?” At that time, I was a young guy. She didn’t cook or clean, and she didn’t appear very motherly. Then we started having problems, Justice said.

Many people on social media criticized his views and said they were out of date.

Imagine expecting Halle Berry, the first Black actress to make $20 million for a movie, the most desired woman in the world for decades, and the first black woman to win an Oscar, to stay home and clean and cook. One user said, “Men and audacity.”

She’s Halle f***in Berry, man. Do you really think God put her down here to clean up? Another blasted, and a third added: He genuinely thought she was going to quit performing and become a stay-at-home mom.

The ex-Atlanta Braves player also said that their hectic jobs kept them apart.

We were apart for a long period since she was making movies in this country and that place.  We possibly could have made it if I had known about treatment.  Barnes said, “We probably could have made it if we had known about therapy.”

Justice said that their breakup wasn’t because of big fights, but because he was immature and didn’t have much experience with relationships. We never had any big problems like that.  It’s just that I was young and had only been in one real relationship before her.

Justice noted that the bad attention from the public and media didn’t start until he decided to leave Berry in 1996, even though they were divorced.

Berry tried to get a restraining order against him at the time, saying she was afraid for her “personal safety and well-being.” However, Page Six said he denied being a threat in public.

The Monsters Ball star then married singer Eric Benét (2001–2005) and actor Olivier Martinez (2013–2016). She is currently seeing musician Van Hunt, who said earlier this year that he asked Berry to marry him, but she hasn’t said yes yet.

Berry has two kids: Nahla, 17, with her ex-husband Gabriel Aubry, and Maceo-Robert, 11, with Martinez.

People have thought, “There must be something wrong with Halle Berry; she can’t keep a man,” the Gothika star previously told The Drew Barrymore Show. I want to keep a guy, but who’s to say that?
The incorrect guy is not someone I want to keep. After all, I’m not insane, am I? We all make mistakes, so don’t worry when you realize yours. “Oh God, this was a mistake,” we can say. I’ll start over. We have the right to do it, she replied.

In an interview, Van Hunt said, “I think we will get married just because, out of the people I’ve been married to, this is the person I should have married,” according to Today.

“I think we should get married, but not because we have to,” Berry stated. We want to demonstrate that, therefore I believe it’s something we want to do. The only response she gave when asked when was “soon.”
