The Oppenheimer movie has gotten great acclaim since it came out, but it has also caused a lot of trouble in India.

Some people are upset about a particular scene in the movie and are calling for a boycott.

The movie is about the life of American physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) and how important he was to the creation of the atomic bomb.

Since its release, the Oppenheimer film has received rave reviews – but it has also sparked controversy in India.

It was going to be a hit from the outset since it had a great story and a great cast.

But it looks like one clip is generating a lot of trouble, especially in India.

The real-life Hinduism was quite important to Oppenheimer, and he was very interested in it.

People say he even translated the Bhagavad Gita, a holy book for Hindus, from Sanskrit into English.

The movie shows how much he loves the religion, but things get problematic during a graphic sequence.

At this point in time, Jean Tatlock (Florence Pugh) is shown having sex with Oppenheimer while making him read the Bhagavad Gita out loud.

Some Hindus in regions of India have not liked how this private moment was shown.

Uday Mahurkar, a journalist and the head of Save Culture Save India (SCSI), issued an open letter to Christopher Nolan, the director of the movie, to show their concern.

He writes on X, which used to be Twitter: “Namaste from Save Culture Save India Foundation.” We have heard that the movie Oppenheimer has a moment that is very critical of Hinduism.

The open letter says that the image is a “scathing attack on Hinduism” and “amounts to waging a war on the Hindu community.”

Mahurkar told Nolan to take out the scene to protect the honor of the holy book and not upset “one billion Hindus.”

He went on to say that if you take this scenario out and do what you need to do to win the hearts of Hindus, it will go a long way toward proving that you are a kind person and making friends with billions of decent people.

People on Twitter agreed with similar feelings and called for a boycott of the movie, saying it showed “no respect” for the religious views shown.

Someone else writes, “Can’t we not watch a movie that insults our religion?” Why do we feel so at ease with it? Why do we like that this movie talks about our sacred book?  This is absolutely gross! #BoycottOppenheimer.

Murphy, who is also in Peaky Blinders, has talked about how important and powerful the s** sequences are.

The Sydney Morning Herald said that he called them “deliberate” and “perfectly” done, which made the movie more emotional.

Murphy also applauded Pugh, his co-star, for her amazing performance and the chemistry they had on film.

Even though there was a lot of debate about it, Oppenheimer did very well at the box office.

According to Forbes, it made an astonishing $97 million, making it Nolan’s biggest non-Batman premiere and one of the finest openings for an R-rated biographical drama.

Oppenheimer had the most nominations going into the 2024 Oscars, with 13. It won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Nolan, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy as the title character, and Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr. as Oppenheimer’s government enemy, Lewis Strauss.
