Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been in the news a lot lately because they changed the names of their two children. Originally known as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor and Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have decided on alternative names given the royal status controversy.

Prominent for their creative approach to royal life, Harry and Meghan left their senior royal duties in 2020. Since they moved to California, where they currently raise their family, this choice represented a considerable departure from custom.

Archie is their oldest child. He was born at Portland Hospital in London on May 6, 2019. He weighs seven pounds and three ounces and is sixth in line for the British crown. Archie had his first public appearance two days after his birth, meeting the late Queen Elizabeth II, his great-grandmother, in a much-reported event.

Archie lives a pretty normal life in Montecito, California, now that he is not bound by the strict rules of royal standards. Though the causes of the name change are still debatable, it has spurred more debate on Harry and Meghan’s place in the royal family and their preference for a different way of life.

The pair stays among the most talked-about people in the royal scene while negotiating their path.

The family of Archie got a new little girl on June 4, 2021.

Lilibet, sometimes known as Lili among friends and relatives, was born in the United States and has been out of public view since birth. Her name is particularly significant since it respects Queen Elizabeth II’s childhood name.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have recently changed the names of their children to Archie and Lilibet. This action is part of what many are referring to as a family rebranding—something that all haven’t warmly accepted.

One critic said, “I would rather see them achieve something substantial than concentrate on a new name. It seems like only spin, and it is very depressing. Said another, echoing a similar feeling, “For someone who wanted to distance himself from royal life, he seems to want to straddle both worlds.”

A third observer said, “These two look needy of attention. They say they want privacy but are rather good at remaining in the public eye.

Not everyone, though, views things this way. A few of the couple’s supporters voiced their approval of the modifications. Good for them, one supporter said. Get free from royal expectations and flourish! I wish them just success. Nothing else! Another comment was added, “What does a name or title entail if it delivers only unhappiness? They have opted to live away from negativity—that is their prerogative. I wish Harry and his family all the happiness on earth!

The Times claims that Harry and Meghan’s children have been sporting Sussex instead of Mountbatten-Windsor since King Charles III’s coronation. The pair has also redesigned their website to Sussex.com.

According to sources, the duke and duchess want to unite their initiatives and family under one name to establish a coherent identity. “This change symbolizes their unity and is a moment of pride for them,” an insider told The Times.

This change fits a rising pattern among public personalities trying to redefine their identities and take charge of their stories. Many celebrities have followed similar actions to establish a brand that captures their values and goals.
