A doctor’s studies showed changes in a man’s brain behind his uncontrollable anger that people used to treat as a personal issue.
Brenden’s aggressive issues brought national attention when his wife Natasha sought help from Dr. Phil.
She experienced daily emotional mistreatment and facial contact through his violent reactions.
Their marriage in crisis the married pair appeared on Dr. Phil to uncover what caused Brenden’s unusual conduct.

The Dr. Phil team arranged brain tests because they wanted to see if Brenden’s violent tendencies had an underlying medical cause.
Dr. Bradley Jabour examined the results because he is among the distinguished neuroradiologists who understand complex neurological issues.
The test findings from Dr. Jabour caught everyone by surprise particularly Brenden.
The brain scans showed a more severe problem than what Brenden or his wife had expected.

Brenden’s test results showed brain problems despite his denial of head trauma history.
“There are seven distinct areas of scarring,” Dr. Jabour explained, “and these are not just structural changes. The brain displays patches of scarred tissue mostly inside its frontal sections.
When the frontal lobes sustain harm they change how well people can control their thoughts and emotions plus handle decisions and actions.
“The question for me today is really, is your brain structurally normal?” Dr. Jabour expressed these observations to Brenden when they met.

The system lets us investigate how brain tissue has been damaged and what this indicates.
Although he could not recall hurting his brain Brenden showed evidence of major brain damage.
“I was surprised, you know,” said Dr. Jabour, “Brenden said he never had an impactful head trauma, but these results suggest otherwise.”
He recommended someone accompany Brenden to identify a past head injury that may not be in his memory.

Brenden reacted with sadness after the expert described his brain damage because he began crying openly.
The brain damage explains Brenden’s actions without pardoning his mistakes and opens new paths for medical treatment.
Dr. Jabour reflected that although Brenden displayed anger as a teenager, he could not determine its onset point.
He recommended researchers should study Brenden’s life from birth to locate the source of his scarring.

After learning the cause of his violent act viewers sympathized with Brenden indicating that finding out now instead of blaming himself all these years brought him relief.
Viewers shared their sympathy in comments after watching Brenden discover that his anger issues aren’t his fault.
Another shared, “So sad. He finally understands he is not driven by crazy anger. He has a problem.”
Jabour reveals that Brenden’s medical problem develops out of the particular information that emerges toward the end of the episode.
Brenden’s brain is not normal.
“Yes,” Dr. Jabour confirmed. “Abnormal.”
